Derby Museum is to host a special exhibition featuring the remains of three mummified humans that have travelled thousands of miles from the Nile to the Derwent.

There will also be over 80 antiquated objects that historians and budding archaeologists can pore over.

Newly undertaken research aims to tell untold stories, exploring the history of the collection and Derbyshire’s links with Egypt.

In a retrospective look, previous displays will be critically examined and frank discussions are welcomed about colonial collections and the display of human remains.

Derby Museum says its ‘Displaced: From the Nile to the Derwent’ is a ‘thought-provoking’ exhibition which has been enhanced by ‘world-class’ loans from national museums including British Museum, Manchester Museum and more.

The displays aim to explore why the collections are in Derby and how they travelled all the way from North Africa.

In what is set to be a great learning experience for locals, there will be plenty of chances for people to get involved.

The next exhibition will form part of a brand-new Egypt show.
