There is something so magical about a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, why not enjoy the magic for longer?

I love Christmas and everything about this most wonderful time of year.

Dark evenings can be offset by twinkling fairy lights, while decorations bring extra cheer to dreary nights. I know some people leave their Christmas tree up all year, and hats off to them if that makes them happy.

The world is filled with incredibly saddening news, so if something as benign as putting a Christmas tree up early, in your corner of the world, brings you cheer, is that really a bad thing?

Celebrities also get into the festive spirit early.

Stacey Solomon shared a photo of her Christmas tree up and looking fabulous, captioned ‘Happy 1st November everyone!’

She is one of the first celebs to put her Christmas tree up and no doubt there will be others in the coming weeks. Stacey did apologise if it was ‘too early’ but I think this will empower those who are thinking of taking the plunge and rescuing their Christmas tree from the loft, just a little bit sooner.

Kelly Osborne also posted a photo that showed her decorating a tree on November 22 from a few years’ ago.

There appears to be public appetite for ‘getting the festive feels’ early.

John Lewis opened their online Christmas shop on August 31, citing a survey that reportedly found 28% of customers were browsing and purchasing their Christmas gifts as early as August.

Yes, department stores have a commercial interest in pushing festive products at one of the busiest times on the business calendar.

Although I think August is a little too early for anything festive-related, I do want to eke out my summer to make it last till at least the end of September.

I think the last day of November is the best time to put a tree up, but then again I’m no expert, just a giant Christmas fan.

Exact date you should put a tree up

According to experts, you should put your Christmas tree up on the first day of Advent, or the fourth Sunday before Christmas.

This year that date is Sunday, December 3, 2023 which I think is way too late.

Putting up a Christmas tree takes time, I find it takes me roughly around three hours.

But I think it is time well spent if those three hours bring you countless moments of delight in the coming months.

Never underestimate the joy of switching on an illuminated Christmas tree, which I think magically melts away your worries and brings much happiness to your life.
