Over 120 bands performed across three days at the UK’s biggest independent metal festival.

Bloodstock festival took place last weekend (August 10 - August 13, 2023) at Catton Park, Derbyshire with thousands of heavy metal fans attending the festival.

Main stage headliners included Killswitch Engage, Meshuggah and Megadeth.

Festival director Rachael Greenfield: “The atmosphere across the site was brilliant and it felt like a homecoming for many of the loyal Bloodstock-ers.

“We were very close to selling out entirely this year at over 18,000 weekend campers.

“We totally sold out the day ticket allocation for Sunday so it was a great year for attendance once again.”

The New Blood stage was full of upcoming metal bands from across the UK who participated in the Metal 2 The Masses competition.

Derby band MuddiBrooke performed on the Jagermeister stage on Saturday alongside lots of fresh talent.

There was also the return of fancy dress themes this year with the ‘Pink For Sylvia’ theme on Thursday and Friday in memory of the founder of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, Corpsepaint Saturday and pumpkin-themed attire on Sunday.

Bloodstock is not just about the music as it also offers lots of activities and entertainment throughout the weekend.

The Nordic Spirit Gaming Arena included a selection of modern and retro video games to play.

There was also axe-throwing, fairground attractions and campsite games to get involved in.

Rachael added: “We've already announced some bands for next year - the campervan field and VIP tickets have already sold out, which is phenomenal, so it's full steam ahead on planning for 2024!”
