Visitors will no doubt be transfixed by the succession of model trains as they watch what happens at goods yards, terminals and the main line.

Organisers said: ‘There is much, much more including a stunning Shelf Railway that is now up and running, come and discover our world of fun!’

Famous Trains’ display is more than just a place to duck into, to keep dry when it rains in the park

It is a great space where a family can spend a fascinating afternoon watching the model trains pass by on the 00 scale Famous Trains model railway.

The model railway has a ‘famous trains’ theme, see if you can spot full-length, well-known trains such as the Flying Scotsman, the Virgin Voyager and the Midland Pullman.

Train fans can also get stuck in and operate several push-button set piece models around the layout.

People can learn about Derby’s rich railway history and how railways operate, which is exactly what founders of the Famous Trains model railway aspired to do.

It was set up by three retired senior railway engineers who wanted to give something back to the community whilst giving the public a sneak peek into some of the fun they had working for the real railway.
