Photos: Furthest From The Sea 2024 show Derby crowds enjoying sunshine at family-friendly event

People enjoyed a carnival atmosphere on the grounds directly outside Museum Of Making

Furthest From The Sea, one of Derby’s cultural highlights took place on Saturday June 22, 2024.

The festival boasting fabulous swashbuckling fun took place on Cathedral Green, just a few steps from Museum Of Making in Derby city centre.

Double-digit temperatures meant people were ready to party in the sun.

There were several pop-up food stalls including an outdoor barbeque from the Museum Of Making's River Kitchen.

On the entertainment front, there was live music from rap stars in the making, performances by local dancers and singers playing sounds from around the world.

Drumming and improv workshops, and demonstrations of craftwork made the event a fun learning environment.

The festival that centred around creativity, had tents around The Green where people could flex their creative muscles.

There was also a Making Central area where young budding publishers could create their own pop-up treasure map, or letterpress poster.

The family-friendly event welcomed parents and little ones into the Story Tent where terrific tales were told, using poetry, illustration and movement.

Organisers of the 11th Furthest From The Sea Festival praised ‘incredible’ performers and artists in a post-event announcement.

Here are some photos from the free event, we are already looking forward to the next one!
