Launch photos from Sat Bains and Derbyshire eatery collaboration perfect to celebrate National Curry Week

Three dishes will be featured on The Brewhouse’s menu, which received glowing comments from a selected audience of good food appreciators

A dream team collaboration of a Derbyshire eatery and a critically acclaimed chef has resulted in foodie fans being treated to homestyle Punjabi food.

The Brewhouse at Melbourne Hall teamed up with Sat Bains, the Derby born chef and owner of the two Michelin star Restaurant Sat Bains.

At a weekend launch - perfectly timed for National Curry Week - a selection of his delicious new Momma Bains homestyle Punjabi range was served within The Courtyard of the South Derbyshire stately home.

So what did people think of Momma Bains’ food?

Jo said: “The menu is amazing, my favourite dish was the aubergine roti, the flavours were absolutely delicious.

“Yes it was messy to eat, but that’s how it’s supposed to be, for proper enjoyment!”

A second diner, also called Jo, from the same table said: “I thought it was a lovely menu with good choices, I quite like vegetarian food so there were some nice veggie options.

“My favourite however was keema fries, they were beautiful, tasted homemade and really flavoursome, which is not what you always get from some Indian restaurants.”

On another table were mother and daughter duo Tia and Tina.

Tia said: “It’s a really nice menu with three great dishes, keema fries were my favourite, with the right amount of spice.

“It’s good, because not everyone likes it too spicy.

Mum Tina said: “Momma Bains menu is all really delicious, I loved the aubergine.

“Keema fries were gorgeous, I could eat them again and again, they were so moreish.

“You could feed these dishes to children too, because they wouldn’t find it too hot either.”

The Brewhouse joins an exclusive list of sites serving Momma Bains’ products that include Rick Stein’s Cornish outlets and winners of the chip shop of the year, The Cod’s Scallops.

Roger Lowe from The Brewhouse said: “Having known Sat and Amanda Bains for quite some time, the opportunity to feature Momma Bains dishes at The Brewhouse was too good to pass up.

“We really wanted to give our customers an authentic taste of Punjabi food created in the Michelin starred kitchen of Restaurant Sat Bains.”

Sat Bains said: “We’re super happy to be partnering with the team at The Brewhouse at Melbourne Hall, bringing three dishes from our new Momma Bains product line from the family that is, Restaurant Sat Bains.

“It’s homestyle Punjabi food that can be eaten as part of a meal or more simply as a snack.

“I’ve spent a few afternoons in The Courtyard enjoying the refreshments, so having The Brewhouse at Melbourne Hall as our newest site is a perfect fit.”

Sat’s wife Amanda ensured the same principles were applied as running their two Michelin starred restaurant and that the chefs at Restaurant Sat Bains stayed true to Momma Bains methods.
