It may feel like a real chore, however, one Derby business is taking a novel approach to festive decluttering.

Bluebell Dairy Farm has enlisted the help of some very special residents, to dispose of their Christmas tree.

The tree has been fed to fields of grazing animals including sheep and goats who tucked into their special supper for a January meal with a unique difference.

Writing on social media, the farm posted a cheeky note saying: ‘Introducing our Christmas Tree disposal team…’

The video shows a giant Christmas tree being carried over a fence enclosure by two smiling members of staff.

The tree is then seen being fed to farmyard animals who start nibbling at the branches straight away.

Goats’ diet usually consists of high-quality hay and grass, so the Christmas tree which Bluebell Farm say is ‘as natural as they come’ and a ‘fab source of antioxidants’ will have gone down a storm with the farm’s furry friends.

People couldn’t help but be wowed by Christmas tree-eating goats.

One nature-loving fan wrote, ‘One way to dispose of your Christmas tree!’, another said, ‘Oh God they really do eat everything don’t they!,’ whilst another simply said ‘Great idea’.

How to dispose of your real Christmas tree properly

Derby council has a tree composting service if you have a real Christmas tree whose central trunk is less than 12cm thick.

Remove all decorations and chop the tree to fit in your brown bin to be composted.

You can also book a visit to Raynesway Household Waste and Recycling Centre (RHWRC).

This is a hub for Derby and Derbyshire residents using a private vehicle to dispose of household recycling and waste, which they can use up to 12 times a year.
