A late club night, followed by a bleary-eyed morning may be the first thing you think about if someone were to say ‘dance anthems gig’ to you.

A music event with an epic twist that you did not see coming, is headed for Derby this weekend.

Listen to classic dance anthems, played by a live orchestra, with a fabulous light show that aims to ‘illuminate your soul.’

As if that wasn’t enough to put a spring in your step, the event will be held at Derby Cathedral.

It is a stunning building founded in 943, which is said to have the oldest ring of ten bells in the world.

The setting makes this event all the more special as it melds history with contemporary culture.

It is a ground-breaking event and the first of its kind in Derby.

Illuminate is working in collaboration with the National Concert Orchestra to redefine the traditional orchestra experience by integrating a light display into the performance.

Organisers have promised an ‘unparalleled artistic spectacle,’ and that evocative landscapes and abstract art will ‘transport you into a world of artistic expression’ as you dance the evening away to your favourite dance anthems.

A bar service will also be available, so you can dance with a drink in hand.

There are two slots for the revolutionary show this weekend.

Daytime discos are seeing something of a revival, and if you want to enjoy this music gig, you can attend the earlier showing which runs from 6.30pm till 8pm.

For those looking for a later performance, this event is repeated at 8.45pm.
