It provides a platform for local comics, organises workshops and shines a spotlight on people making a difference in the industry.

The award-winning comedian is now gearing up for an all-female led comedy gig in March described as a ‘feast of female comedy’ to celebrate and empower women in Derby and beyond.

Lizzy, who hosts Happy Tuesdays comedy nights is looking forward to upcoming events at Dubrek Studios.

The headline act is Maxine Wade, a BBC New Comedy Award semi-finalist 2023 and rising star of the northern comedy scene.

She combines political satire with anecdotes of her time working in the NHS and has a reputation for bringing the house down.

Supporting acts include Rachel Robbins whose ‘brutally honest tales always raise a laugh’  and homegrown talent Helen Rice whose ‘spoken word and silly songs are delivered with an instantly amenable charm.’

Also in the comedy house is Hull comedian Lucy Buckley, whose tales of navigating the dating scene and adulthood will leave you howling with laughter.

This amazing shortlist of talent comes from the breadth of the country.

This is exactly what Lizzy works hard to achieve with her Happy Tuesdays comedy nights - bringing a range of nationally acclaimed acts to Derby, whilst championing local and new comedians.

Reflecting on her You Can Laugh You Know award and what it means to her, Lizzy said: “Getting the award is really lovely, I feel that it is a recognition how important accessible venues are.”

Speaking about accessible venues in Derby, she said: “I go to a lot of music events, like at The Flowerpot, the audience are amazing, so even though there’s nowhere raised, there have been accommodations and lots of support.”

Lizzy’s Happy Tuesdays comedy nights take place on the second Tuesday of the month.
