The move will give people an insight into what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ of the creative process as artisans work their magic on hand-crafted products.

Having a bricks and mortar shop is often seen as a great way to bring products to people.

Now, Derby Uncovered, a Community Interest Company based on Sadler Gate, has uncovered a novel way to bring people even closer to products - by taking merchandise outside onto the pavement.

Derby Uncovered is working hard to bring the people of Derby closer to the city’s flourishing creative community.

It aims to host tasting sessions of food and drink made by local businesses, outside the shop based at Number 11 Sadler Gate.

Derby Uncovered teased a new event, trying to give people a flavour of what to expect.

It wrote: ‘As many of you will know, Derby Uncovered are massive supporters of local artisans and local businesses. Now we’d like to bring them closer to you.

‘Throughout July, August and September we’ll be highlighting the very best of all things local outside our Heritage Centre at No.11 Sadler Gate.

‘From tasting sessions of delicious local food and drink, to local creatives demonstrating their work, and local organisations promoting Derby-related offerings, we’ll be going al fresco with a presence outside our shop.’

It thanked local sponsor Bee-Assisted and encouraged people to keep an eye out on Derby Uncovered’s calendar of events.

David Turner from Derby Uncovered, told DerbyWorld: “Local Spaces is all about bringing local creatives and creations closer to the Derby public.

“It’s about creating a buzz for people as they walk down Sadler Gate.

“Be it giftware, food, drink or many other things, Derby and Derbyshire has some truly wonderful local creatives and small businesses.

“As we do at the Heritage Centre, we like to encourage people to buy locally from them as much as possible.”
