Derby's epic daytime disco means you can dance all day and be home in time for Graham Norton

You don’t have to stress about beauty sleep thanks to a daytime disco that is coming to Derby.

The event means you can dance the afternoon away so you could be home in your PJs with your feet up, in time for Graham Norton.

Disco Bliss has organised the gig which will run from 2pm until 6pm at The Old Bell Hotel in Derby city centre.

The event is part of an emerging national trend that has seen daytime gigs aimed at adults who love to dance the afternoon away without worrying about those pesky late nights.

Vicky McClure and her husband Jonathan Owen are behind Day Fever, a string of daytime gigs that have sold out in Nottingham, Glasgow, Sheffield, Manchester and London.

At the Disco Bliss Derby event, people can expect a DJ spinning classic tunes that will be sure to get you up and onto the dance floor faster than you can say ‘Hold my drink.’

The playlist is jam-packed with music from icons including Abba, Bee Gees, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Wham, Tina Turner, Elton John, Lionel Richie, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan and more.

Acknowledging the emerging trend of daytime discos for adults who love to dance without the late night, Disco Bliss invited the people of Derby to their event.

Announcing their gig on a social media post, they wrote: "Do you love to dance but don't like the hassle of going out at night? Do you want to dance in a safe and fun environment, where you can express yourself and enjoy the music you love?

‘The daytime disco is a daytime dance party where you can dance with like-minded people. There will be a spacious and well-ventilated venue, with a professional DJ and a friendly atmosphere.

‘You can dance as much as you want, without worrying about staying up late!The daytime disco is the ideal place to have fun, relax and feel alive!"

Date: The daytime disco will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Time: Doors open at 1pm and last entry is 3pm. Music starts from 2pm and finishes at 6pm.
