Former Derby County manager Wayne Rooney is linked with the Birmingham City job

Derby County’s former fan-favourite manager Wayne Rooney has been linked with the Birmingham City job amid rumours that Blues boss and former Ram John Eustace is in demand.

Reports have emerged that Scottish outfit Rangers have shortlisted Eustace as a possible replacement for Michael Beale.

Eustace did a fine job of keeping the Blues in the Championship last season and they have started the season very well this year, so it is no suprise that the former Derby midfielder is in demand by Rangers.

Rooney is currently the boss at MLS club DC United, where the former England striker played before he came to Pride Park back in January 2020.

The 37-year-old went on to manage the Rams and almost kept them up despite a 21 point deduction back in 2021. He then left to manage at DC United.
