Harrison Burrows was one of the best players in League One last season

Derby County are reportedly interested in Peterborough United star left back Harrison Burrows.

The Rams are in need of a left wing-back with only Callum Elder in the squad; Paul Warne also began to play Louie Sibley out of position to make up for the lack of depth.

According to the News, Derby’s competition for Burrows includes Portsmouth, Norwich City, Coventry City and Celtic.

The in demand defender will command a hefty price tag as Peterborough United will be reluctant to let one of their best players go as they aim to earn promotion from League One this season.

Currently valued at £2.5 million, Burrows made 45 league appearances last season scoring six goals and recording 15 assists.

Burrows also scored a wondergoal in the EFL Trophy final at Wembley which gave Peterborough their only piece of silverware last season.

The 22 year-old would solve Derby’s depth problems at left back and with Paul Warne keen on playing attacking wing backs, Burrows would provide the ideal long term option.

But with significant interest and an already high price tag, it could be tricky for the Rams to land the defender’s signature as they don’t have as big a transfer budget as others in the Championship.

Only time will tell if Burrows will make the move up to the Championship or stay with the Posh where he came through the academy and has developed into a club favourite.
