Cashin has been one of the best players in League One this season and will be a key part of any promotion charge for Derby, so fans will be relieved to see that he will remain at Pride Park until at least the end of the season.

It is likely that interested clubs will re-ignite their desire to sign the 22 year-old in the summer, but for now he is contracted at Derby for an additional season, ending in the summer of 2025.

During the summer transfer window, Cashin was set to leave with Premier League Brighton looking to sign him on transfer deadline day. However, the deal fell through leaving Cashin to remain at Pride Park.

Seeing as Derby find themselves in a promotion chase, it is crucial that they keep their key players at the club over the January window, so the extension to Cashin could prove to be a vital move.

The Irish defender has played 23 league games so far this season scoring two goals with one assist.
