Derby County have made two January signings so far and are still trying to land a striker

Derby County are reportedly not giving up on trying to sign a striker before the 11pm transfer deadline this evening.

According to the Sheffield Star, Paul Warne is still keen on signing Lee Gregory from Sheffield Wednesday and persists in negotiations with the Owls.

The Rams have shown interest in both Lee Gregory and also his Sheffield Wednesday teammate Michael Smith, however Gregory seems the more likely of the two.

It is understood that Derby are preparing to make one last push for Gregory who hasn't been getting much game time since Sheffield Wednesday appointed manager Danny Rohl at the start of the season.

Derby will be aiming for a loan deal for Gregory, but it is likely that Wednesday are wanting a more meaningful deal for the 35 year-old.

Gregory made a loan move to Derby from Stoke City back in 2021 making just 11 appearances whilst scoring three goals.

Paul Warne is desperate to bring in a striker before the 11pm deadline because the Rams need someone to take the workload off James Collins who sits on 13 league goals so far this year.
