Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has been a key man for Derby County this season

The Guatemalan international was set to be out of contract at the end of the season and will now remain at Pride Park to the delight of many Rams fans.

The 31 year-old has been fantastic this season and one of the best players in League One. He has six goals and seven assists in 25 matches so far.

He signed for the Rams in the summer of 2022 when Liam Rosenior was Derby boss following Wayne Rooney's departure.

Since then, Mendez-Laing has made 79 appearances in one and a half seasons making him one of the most consistent members of the first team since Derby were relegated to League One.

If they are to get promoted this season, then extending Mendez-Laing's deal will be a big part of securing the Rams attacking weapons amid the tribulations of the January transfer window.
