Derby band’s debut song packed with city locations including Derbion and Museum Of Making
A local band have released their debut single which celebrates Derby landmarks by featuring them in their video.
Skeeve is an indie-rock band from Derby comprising Brandon, Rin, Santino and Will.

Hide AdKeeping things hyperlocal meant their song Whiskey was recorded by leading East Midlands music producer Jay Dean at his music studio Dubrek on Bridge Street, Derby.
Derby locations featured in Skeeve’s Whiskey video are Museum Of Making, Dubrek Studios, Hippo Guitars, Derbion and HMV.

The band chose filming locations in the city for a fun twist.
Will said: “For the music video we wanted a 'low quality' home recording vibe, similar to the music video of Head In The Ceiling Fan – Title Fight.

Hide Ad“Since Derby is where we are mainly based, we thought it would be a good idea to video us having fun in the areas of the city centre.”
Reflecting on the music production of Whiskey, Will said: “It was incredible working with Jay Dean from Dubrek.
“We loved the direction he took for recording our single, it made the final version sound amazing.
“We enjoyed the whole process and are already looking forward to the next one!”
Who are Skeeve?

Hide AdSkeeve were formed around nine months’ ago by band members who met at college.
The unusual name is inspired by the video game Skyrim, played by Santino.
Will said: “There are big rats in the game called Skeevers, he shortened it and we thought it was a cool word.”
Coolness aside, the song has a deeper meaning - the title song Whiskey is about a relationship that Will says “ended quite badly.”
The band pride authenticity and unique tone of voice.

Hide AdWhen asked about musician inspirations, the band said: “We try to be as original as possible to give us a definitive sound, but we do like the sounds of bands such as Whirr, Title Fight and My Bloody Valentine."
The up-and-coming band have been winning fans across the city and have already been hosted by Mr Shaw 75 on Sadler Gate.
