There's plenty of entertainment in the park

Films and popular Shakespearean plays can be watched at Derby's Markeaton Park during the summer nights.

The Outdoor Theatre and Cinema season at the park's craft village runs from July 1 to July 29.

There is a show for everyone - from family-friendly children's storytelling to adult comedy films.

The Magic Storybook

July 1 and July 2, 11.30am and 1pm

The Magic Storybook is a children's pop-up theatre by AVP Theatre bringing well-known fairy tales to life.

Much Ado About Nothing

July 13 to July 15, 7.30pm

Award-winning theatre company Oddsocks Productions will be performing the Shakespeare comedy in their own unique style.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

July 19 to July 22, 7.30pm

The Shakespeare play - which is full of love, mischief and magic - will be performed by the Derby Shakespeare Theatre Company.

Bridesmaids is a female-fronted comedy with Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph about the journey of friendship and marriage.

Top Gun: Maverick (12A)

July 29, 9pm

The blockbuster film starring Tom Cruise is the sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun and it is full of action and adventure.

Tickets for the movie showings and theatre shows start from £13 and can be booked on the Derby Parks website.

There's always something going on at Markeaton Park

Markeaton Park is a hotspot for entertainment and events during the summer and winter months.

Councillor Hardyal Dhindsa, cabinet member for communities and Streetpride at Derby City Council, said: "We're very proud of all that Markeaton Park has to offer.

"Throughout the year, Markeaton Park hosts a number of events, including the Outdoor Theatre and Cinema in the summer, and Family Festivities in the run-up to Christmas.

"It's also host to a weekly Parkrun, drawing in hundreds of runners and walkers to complete the 5km route every Saturday, and has several marked routes which help visitors explore everything on offer."
