Electric Daisy: Derby's cool outdoor dining and socialising space relaunches with Easter BBQ

The garden is now open and is one of Derby's leading green spaces in the heart of the city centre

One of the city’s highly anticipated reopenings attracted crowds eager to celebrate Easter.

The rain and hail didn’t keep Derby’s hardy souls away on Good Friday (March 29), who turned up to show support for Down To Earth’s (DTE) communal garden project, Electric Daisy.

Situated on Bold Lane in the heart of the city, the free-to-enter relaunch event was filled with good food including BBQ and pizza, live music, and an Easter egg hunt collaboration with local charity Children First.

Writing in a social post, organisers said: ‘We cannot wait to reopen Electric Daisy for 2024!!

'It's our first major project in Derby and we're so so proud of it! Last year was a great success, it was awesome to see so many people come through to enjoy and appreciate the space.

'But we're even more buzzing for this year, to show you all how we've developed and improved it further and basically just have another banging year sharing and enjoying it with the community!

‘We've got a jammed packed calender lined up, from garden workshops to comedy nights. Not forgetting, nature play sessions for the smalls. You don't wanna miss it so go follow @electricdaisyderby to keep up to date with what's cracking off.’

The garden which opened in June 2023 has high profile connections.

Sir Tim Smit, co-founder of Eden Project, is a supporter of  DTE.

He has previously collaborated with fellow sustainability champion and founder of DTE Jamie Quince-Starkey about nature-based regeneration of Derby.

Electric Daisy opened in June 2023 and continues to receive strong support from Derby City Council, and property developers Wates Group.

The relaunch ran from 11am till 10pm, here are some photos of the event.

Address: Electric Daisy Derby, 1-4 Bold Lane, Derby DE1 3NT
