Anoki Restaurant is the gift that keeps giving

Thanks to National Curry Week, I didn’t need an excuse to dine out this week.

After a quick scan on social media, I saw Anoki Restaurant have a celebration menu commemmorating their 20 years’ service in the hospitality industry.

They are offering a £20 per person three course meal, filled with their top five starters and mains, a deal that lasts until the end of October.

I know several other eateries have similar meals deals, but I opted for Anoki because running a restaurant for two full decades is no mean feat and I wanted to cheer them on with my support.

I have visited Anoki Derby before and keep hearing how the restaurant’s Burton branch is really good, so hopes were high.

Booking a table at Anoki Burton, which is one of the restaurant’s three branches, was simple and took less than 60 seconds via telephone call.

The car park feels expansive in comparison to the Derby branch, whilst decorative lights, up the pathway to the restaurant made me feel as if I was going to a wedding.

I love lights in the dark, I guess this gave it a bit of a wow factor.

Add smiling liveried waitstaff and pretty interior decor to the mix and you had all the ingredients for a good night out.

What is the Anoki 20th Anniversary Celebration Menu?

Here are all the items you can choose from the menu that runs until the end of October.

Rice, plain naan and garlic naan are also served as part of the £20 meal deal.

The first course of poppadoms were noteworthy, because they were light, fresh and particularly good with the accompanying chutneys.

As you can see, you get a lot of bang for your buck for £20.

Dishes that arrived with a flourish at our table included hot curries, still bubbling away in their tagines.

Spoiler alert - we had to get some of the food packed to go which will be forming part of our supper this evening.

Which means the food we were served at Anoki, was enough for 1.5 sittings, which for £20, is a pretty hot deal.

My starter of hot chilli fish delivered a peppery kick.

I liked the batter encased cod which was done well, and the hot sauce with a liberal dash of vinegar made for an exciting starter.

Dining partner’s lamb chops were sensational and I am not ashamed to admit that I snaffled some from his plate.

Lean, tender meat was beautifully done, however it was that special marinade that led to the meat being chargrilled in places and adding to smoky depth that made me a fan for life.

I could happily eat these lightly spiced lamb chops all day long and not get bored.

My main of mirch masala chicken as subtly spicy, and I could taste fragrant garlic and its punchier cousin ginger too.

The emulsion of the curry base was so good, that when it came for the curry to be packed away, table etiquette went out of the window as I rescued a tablespoon of the curry sauce right before it was whisked away.

Dining partner’s lamb desi curry had a good base of garam masala and I could taste a whisper of cinnamon on the swallow.

I could also happily eat this curry too, which is surprising because I’m not usually a fan of red meat.

Fresh, pillowy naan hot from the tandoor were a delight, whilst gently flavoured pilau rice in earthy turmeric and a light masala sprinkling was also very good.

I enjoyed the side of raita which was cooling too, whilst the side salad had all fresh salad items including red onion, tomatoes and lettuce.

Dining at Anoki Burton feels like a treat, because it is.

A treat for the senses, for the tummy, and above all, a treat for the purse, because for £20, you get to enjoy delicious food cooked by expert hands, who really know what they doing.

Service was efficient, always with a smile and it was a pleasure dining at Anoki Burton.

Overall, I had a lovely meal and cannot wait to visit again.

I have my eye on the reshmi tikka starter and butter chicken main, so Team Anoki, see you again very soon.
