Tickled Trout: Derbyshire gastropub with an epic name and an award-winning head chef

Tickled Trout, a gastropub in Derbyshire is celebrating after its head chef won Best Pub Restaurant Chef at Craft Guild Of Chef Awards.

Chris Mapp who is also Chef Patron (owner and head chef) of Tickled Trout at Barlow, won the illustrious title at this year’s awards.

Chris received the award on Monday June 24, when more than 800 of hospitality’s leading luminaries attended the annual ceremony.

Craft Guild Of Chefs Awards has been celebrating chefs since 1994.

For its 30th anniversary event, the guild bestowed 19 accolades to winners across the country.

Tickled Trout expressed delight by sharing a social media post on the eatery’s Facebook page.

It said the award recognised the ‘high-quality of food served at the 1 Rosette Tickled Trout, Chris’s commitment to supporting young chefs to realise their dreams and his overall contribution to the hospitality industry.’

The pub is a fan-favourite for discerning diners, many who took to social media to share their views.

Kathryn Turner said: ‘Very well done,’ Gopala Krishnakumar said: ‘Congratulations mate, well deserved,’ and Lee Snell said: ‘Wow, what an achievement takes a lot of hard work and determination to get into those positions well done!’

The award was presented to Chris, by HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh during a ceremony at Grosvenor Hotel in London.

The Special Award was presented to Asma Khan, owner of the Darjeeling Express restaurant. Previous winners of this award include Simon Rogan, Angela Hartnett MBE, Michel Roux OBE and Albert Roux OBE, Marco Pierre White and Raymond Blanc OBE.
