The venue has undergone a refurbishment which now includes elegant décor and an intriguing cocktail list

The Iron Ram, formerly known as Thomas Leaper, a JD Wetherspoons pub, is Derby’s newest watering hole.

It is gearing up for a launch tomorrow (Friday June 14, 2024) and Derby World was invited to take a look behind the scenes.

There are numerous large screen televisions in the venue making it an ideal place to watch the Euros which kick off tomorrow.

There are two karaoke rooms, shuffleboards, interactive dartboards and a fabulous cocktail and wine list.

In addition to creating a welcoming space for discerning drinkers, the new Derby pub has also created 28 jobs in the city.

We caught up with Jon Sellars, area manager for Amber Taverns who expressed his delight at the latest pub in the Amber Taverns stable.

He shared why Amber Taverns chose Derby city centre as its latest site, which drink he recommends on the menu, and also what he hopes people can expect from the city’s newest pub.

We also took a tour around the venue that is spread across two floors, ground level and first floor.

We were impressed by art deco inspired lighting, elegant colour scheme and views from windows that stretch far out across the city.

Location: The Iron Ram, 27 Iron Gate, Derby DE1 3GL

The Iron Ram pub opens at 10am on Friday June 14, 2024.
