Estrella Damm Gastropubs 2024: Derbyshire pubs named among UK's best in prestigious list

We might be biased but we believe Derbyshire has one of the most underrated food and drink scenes in the country.

And our suspicions have been proved right this week as three Derbyshire pubs have been named among the top 100 in the UK.

The annual Estrella Damm Top Gastropub list shines a spotlight on the pubs with high culinary excellence. It champions the hospitality sector and the hard work of the staff.

The Pack Horse, Hayfield

This contemporary pub came in at number 18 on the list. 

It is located in the Peak District and serves dishes using locally sourced ingredients. 

Fish is from boats off the north-west coast, and caught using sustainable methods where possible, while lamb and mutton is chosen from a local abattoir just four miles away.

The Duncombe Arms, Ashbourne

Coming in at number 47 on the list, this 19th-century gastropub serves modern and classic British dishes, of fine-dining quality in relaxed yet comfortable surroundings.

The Blind Bull, Buxton

This recently renovated 12th-century inn is number 82 on the list and is thought to be one of Britain’s oldest pubs.

The multi-talented team has worked in the best kitchens in the UK and France creating bold, simple dishes that delight diners.
