The people of Derby have shared what they would most like to see in the city, with hot topics covered including entertainment venues, the cost-of-living and investment.
Derby City Lab has created a hub for engaging with the local community in Derbion.

Hide AdAs part of efforts to inform people about upcoming plans for the city, it has curated a ‘Dream Board.’
People are invited to share what they would like to see happen in Derby.
There were plenty of messages of hope as people voiced their opinions about the city, covering topics such as investment, sustainability and entertainment.
Here are a few notes from the board, in no particular order, that are keeping the people of Derby curious and engaged and hopeful for the future.
What people would like to see in Derby
- Invest in creative architecture that can become tourist attractions
- Better library and study spaces
- More entertainment venues - this person also wrote: ‘Currently going to Buxton and Nottingham, looking forward to 2025’
- Continued fostering of global community
- Creating a welcoming and attractive city for residents and visitors
- Markeaton Brook opened up through town to create a nice walk
- Second university - this person also wrote: ‘As a city of Derby’s size usually has two or three, perhaps a Joseph Wright University’
- More activities and events that aren’t expensive
- A Derby with Fibre Optic Internet
- Better cycle infrastructure
- More shops, Go-Karting, and Climbing Walls
- More public toilets and disabled parking in town

- More people living in the city to create vibrancy
