Nest Sunday roasts: Luxury spa retreat near Derby that serves epic tapas-style roast dinners

You can’t get more traditional than a good old Sunday roast, with a pile of roasties, fist-sized Yorkshire puddings and succulent slices of freshly carved meat bathed in tonnes of gravy.

What if there was a way to enjoy all this… but in a different way?

The Oak House Restaurant in Staffordshire has launched a brand-new way of enjoying the traditional Sunday roast, by inviting customers to dine tapas style.

Located in the grounds of Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat, near Stone, the venue offers luxury spa breaks at its country spa retreat.

The setting is an additional twist - you could potentially nip out of a spa treatment, dive into tapas in the bar, then resume an afternoon’s worth of R&R.

The Oak House Restaurant & Balcony Bar is approximately 40 minutes' away from Derby city centre. 

The restaurant still offers a traditional sit-down Sunday lunch in the main dining area, which is said to be fully booked often.

The new tapas menu offers a fun and interesting take on the great British classic, allowing customers to cherry pick their favourite parts of a roast dinner and giving a much more leisurely and sociable approach to a traditional offering.

The Sunday roast tapas menu is available on selected Sundays throughout spring and summer, and is served in the first floor Balcony Bar from 3pm onwards. 

With no booking needed and walk-in diners welcome, guests have the option to dine inside the cosy bar area or eat al fresco whilst enjoying views of the private lake and woodland from the outdoor balcony itself. 

The tapas menu includes a range of options including pulled beef in Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, honey roast carrots and parsnips, plus crispy roast potatoes.
